Rape Culture

Tumblr has really educated me a lot (in some ways). Certain negative things happening in other countries; things that rarely/don't happen/ or not as bad - in Singapore. Rape culture, Female discrimination, Trans/gay/bi issues, Slut-shaming etc.

But let me just focus on Rape Culture /Victim blaming; as rape culture falls into a lot of different categories.

Victim blaming is when a guy raped a girl and reasons that she wears clothes (or lack of) that "provokes" him. 

IT IS ALSO

A girl is NOT asking for it, be it if she's wearing short skirts /shorts, boobs hanging out, EVEN if she's wearing fully-clothed or hijab. Her choice of wearing something or lacking of clothes DOES NOT MEAN SHE WANTS SEX.

You want to prevent rape? Then, don't rape. 

Since young, our parents.. the society has been telling us, girls - women, to dress appropriately, don't go on walks at night, don't go to secluded places, don't get drunk - if not, you will attract trouble. But seriously, if you can teach us these things, why not teach the guys NOT to rape? 


"We live in a Society that teaches - DON'T GET RAPED instead of DON'T RAPE."

I get so mad when I read about these things online. Especially when I see how a lot of people are actually "victim blaming". This was in March:

I'm utterly disgusted. YES, she got drunk. But does that mean she consents you to rape her? She may not be in her right mind, but YOU ARE. You are in a right mind to stop. You are in a right mind to know that when someone is drunk, he/she should NOT be taken advantaged of. 

Ok something mild for you guys and probably "closer to home".... it was in RP Confessions. There was a post where this confessor said that  some of the girls in RP dresses very slutty. He also goes along the line saying that they ought to get raped for dressing like that. - This is quite long ago, I should have taken a snapshot of it.

And guess what? There are a couple of guys agreeing to it.. which made me sick.  And after that, Bob (one of the admins) posted this:
